Congrats mate!!! first time i have heard about it. well happy for you.
Congratulations! If this is where we nominate names i vote for Edwin;p
Aw, that's great! Congratulations! *goes all mushy*
I think a good old Viking name is in order, though.
Cheers guys
Colin - nice idea namewise. Got any ideas for if it's a boy?
Personally was going to follow in my dead father's footsteps and threaten to name it Nebuknezza or however you spell it!
Congratulations Pete and Ali! You could always do the 'celeb thing' and name it after a type of fruit or something equally horrific... (Not that fruit is horrific, just naming people after it, in general)
Congrats!!!
Advice with names - don't call him/her anything that you aren't prepared to yell at the top of your voice in Tescos. Oh, and if it's a girl, consider whether her initials could spell something nasty if she should get married... Have there been any weird food cravings (I mean, has Ali had any, not you Pete!)
No the only real craving was at one point early on when I really wanted marmite which I normally DETEST! but it's full of folic acid and B vitamins so I ate it! As for names I agree on the yelling in tescos so perhaps Nebuchadnezzar is out. There are certain biblical names that should really be avoided don't you think? Judas, Ahaz, Ahab, Jezabel etc. Don't fancy my child being killed and eaten by dogs!
Tis a fair point regarding yelling names in public... much like when naming our cat we had to consider that we'd have to yell the name from the back door from time to time. Chloe wins out against Mrs Fluffy-Wuffy in such situations.
again, maybe mrs fluffy-wuffy is not a good plan for a child's name...
i'm sure you could use nebuchadnezzar, just shorten it to "Neb", that's alright! better than being in liverpool where names are underused in general, eg. "eyy! giiiiiiiiirrrl!" or "eyyy laadd!". nice.
What pete failed to mention is that although the cat is called Chloe it invariably gets called something else - especially by him! Mrs Moo amongst others of his and fat cat amongst mine! Consequently even if we do name bump something it'll probably get called something else at home. I was trouble 1 for years at home. (my sister being trouble 2)
Ali i don't think we grow out of these names, my name on the graduation bracelet that my parent gave me is "Loopsie" thats right they had me down as a crazy fool from the days of being a bump to the day i graduated! poor children!
It's inevitable I think. My nick name from my sister for years was Alibobble and she still reverts to it occasionally. There's no escaping. My grandma on the other hand referred to me for years as "sparrow legs!" which i suppose it sort of complementary in a weird way!
I wouldn't go that far. you may remember that the next door neighbours used to call me calamity Jane, and you Boris Becker, whenever the shuttlecock went over the hedge.
I do know a family whose surname is Martin, so they named all their children so that their abbreviated first names and their initials were the same, eg Samuel Andrew Martin = Sam. Clever, but perhaps a little too thought-out for my liking.
Hey Pete and Ali,
Congratulations!! I hope everything is going well for you both and I wish you the best of luck for the arrival of the little one! Will you find out the sex of the baby before it arrives or do you want it to be a surprise? I'm afraid I can't think of any suggestions for names, comedy or otherwise, although I do think Nebuchadnezzar would be a bit of a mouthful, especially when you combine it with the surname!
Hey Izz, cheers for the good wishes. The next scan is this wednesday, but I think we'll leave the sex to be a surprise. Hope all is well with you.
