I meant to write last week about our ante-natal class, but I never got round to it. So I'll do it now. We had another class last night. Just one to go and then we will be good to go... hopefully. The classes have been pretty good so far. Alison didn't find the first one so useful, as she's been reading book after book about pregnancy and childbirth and suchlike, but I found it pretty good. It was all about signs of the onset of labour and when to go into hospital and stuff. The session last night was about labour and pain relief and interventions (forceps, c-section and stuff) and then we had a bit of a tour around the labour wards so we know where to go and what there is available. We both found last night's one helpful, so that's cool. Next week there's one about massage and stuff from a physiotherapist lady, and there's also one for just Alison, which is all about breastfeeding.
It's pretty interesting stuff really. Good to get a bit of information about what to expect and what's going to happen. It's a bit scary, and at the end of the day in spite of all the medical advances we've made, you're still pushing a big baby out of a not so big place, so I think that with the best will in the world it'll still be quite the ordeal. Joy!
Things are going OK otherwise. I'm having a bit of a panic about getting a house sorted in time for moving to Manchester in August. Don't know quite how that's going to work out. We're going up to have a look around this weekend, so we'll see what's available and try to find a nice area to start looking at houses in. I'm also rather concerned about the whole money issue, as it seems somewhat insane to be starting a family on the salary I'll be on. Still, we'll see what God can sort out by way of providing for our needs.
